Indian Chudidar

Chudidar is also known as churidar or churidaar. Chudidar is said to be tight fitting trouser which is worn by both women and men. Chudidar are normally comes longer the length of the leg and for stretchy look, it usually cut on the 45 degrees angle to the grain of the fabric. At the ankles, excessive length folds and it looks like bangles which are known as churi. So, it is called as chudidar which comes from the word ‘churi’, it is an Indian term of bangles. Women usually worn churidhar with a kurta, kameez, or tunic and men generally wear this with kurta.


Churidhar is referred to a Hindi term initially, which made its way into English in the 20th century. In 19th century, Indian women wear this chudidar with a bodice and a transparent overskirt. Chudidar is a common dress in North India people which includes Pakistani,Punjabis and also people who moved from India to Pakistan in 1947.
Today, it is the most common dress for Indian and Pakistani women. Women in South Asia are frequently wearing chudithar with tunics or kurtas. It is a traditional dress and also it is very comfortable to wear.
From designer to casual wear, there is a huge range to choose from ethnic to Anarkali chudidhar. Chudidars are available in different kinds of fabrics like cotton, silk, brocade silk, and georgette. Chudidars are worn in variety of colors. You can wear chudidhar with kurta, tunic or shirt. Readymade chudidhars are comes in different sizes.
Chudidhar is the most comfortable outfit and it is perfect to wear for office which is clubbed with long or short kurta. Women usually wear flat slip and pencil heels which are the best suits with the chudidar.
One cannot anarkali suit with salwar or any other pant style trouser. Chudidar is suitable for casual wear at home and office and also it is worn while going for shopping or it can be wear for any special occasions like parties, weddings and formal events. Men wear this for special occasions as with kurta or sherwani. For summer season, cotton chudidar are better to wear. Initially chudidar comes in plain colors like black, white or off white but nowdays, according to fashion and trends; it comes in greater heights, printed Churidars with special embellishments.
The maintenance depends on the fabric used in the chudidar. Cotton chudidars are easy to wash at home and silk and heavy embroidery chudidhars should only be dry-cleaned.
