Crepe Fabric

Designers and consumers always choose the fabric which is rich in texture and give a garment awe- inspiring look. The twisting of fibers can be done in two ways. During the weaving process, the twisting of fibers can be obtained through irregular patterns and the other way, it can be obtained by creating permanent patterns with rollers engraved with a crepe design on the surface of a finished fabric through the application of heat and pressure. Crepe fabrics can be produced by using fibers ranging from silk, wool, polyester or cotton. One of the most widely used fabrics in the garment industry is the crepe fabric that uses the polyester fibers because the garments are wrinkle free and comfortable. There are different varieties of crepe includes crepe de chine, wool crepe, Moroccan crepe, plisse crepe and crepe georgette.

Most luxurious and demanded fabric is crepe de chine which is made from silk. This fabric is light weight and it can be severely damaged when exposed to excessive sweat or sunlight.

Another most chosen variety is crepe georgette which is made up of matter silk or fabrics which are similar to silk that is flexible and stretchable.  This fabric is commonly known as chiffon. Chiffon fabrics are used for women’s clothing like traditional skirts, blouses, evening wear and gowns. The wiry crepe fabric is made of both silk and a cotton fiber which is also known as wool crepe and it is also used by the designers all over the globe to produce dresses. Normally wool crepe is used to produce lingerie and dresses. At the time weaving process, yarn is specially treated to look like crepe.
